Willie Burns Blitz takes place this Saturday 21st September at 10:15am in Oola followed by BBQ and trophy presentation. Always a great day of football. Eligible for Boys and Girls U8 to U13.

Congratulations to the Oola u16 girls on beating Pallas on September 9th in the county final, 7-8 to 3-8

Best wishes to the oola representatives and all involved with the Doon senior hurlers in the county Semi final this Sunday.

Our U8 & U10 Girls football teams played in the Munster Blitz hosted by Wolfe Tones in Shannon last Saturday. Well done to the girls.

County U15 Football
Congratulations to Conor Whelan, Colin O'Grady and all the Limerick U15 footballers on their wins in the Dermot Early Cup against Antrim and in the Dermot Early Shield against Roscommon in Abbotstown on Saturday. Well done boys!

Oola Notes - 12th August


U16 Football Division 2 Championship Semi Final Oola v Killacolla Gaels in Old Christians at 7.15pm this Thursday the 15th of August 

Our Senior footballers play Newcastle west in the final match of the group on Sunday August 25th at 6pm in Kilbreedy. A win will ensure a semi final place. All support appreciated.


Our U13s played Commercials Gaa in a challenge match winning 2-8 to 1-6. This was a great game of football with plenty of skill on display from both teams. A big thank you to Clonmel Comericals for their hospitality and foods afterwards

An elite 3 day hurling camp will be held in Doon Gaa field Tuesday 20th August to Thursday 22nd August. The camp is coordinated and will consist of inter county Hurlers, a great chance for our future stars to meet and greet their idols. Register soon to avoid disappointment. Link to register is below

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others continues this week in Oola on Wednesday @ 8pm. All ages ability and fitness levels welcome

Oola Notes - 5th Aug 2019

Senior Football Championship
Round 3 of the Senior Football Championship was played on Tuesday 30th July, Oola faced Na Piarsaigh in Claughun. Oola got off to a great start scoring 1 -1 from the boot of Josh Ryan within 5 minutes. The first goal was a converted penalty which was won by Richie English. Keith Bourke scored got the next 2 score again 1-1. 3 further points from Richie English Keith Bourke and Josh Ryan left the score at half time Oola 2-5 Na Piarsaigh 0-4. Na Piarsaigh rallied in the second half and mid-way through the second half there was only 1 goal in it. However, Oola finished the stronger team winning out on a score line of 2-11 to 1-09

Senior Football Championship
Round 4 of the Senior Football
Oola were out 3 days later on Friday 2nd of August when they faced St. Kieran’s in Clarina in the Round 4 of the Senior Football Championship. Again another blistering start form Oola which saw them lead at half time 2- 5 to 0-6. Goals coming from the boot of Richie English and Pat Ryan. As expected St. Kieran’s came at Oola in the second half in which they score 9 points. Oola however with another goal from Richie English and point from Pat Ryan and 2 wonderful points from out on the side line from Keith Bourke ran out winners on a score line of Oola 3-8 St. Kieran’s 0-15.
There is now a 3 weeks break until the final round against Newcastle West on August 25th in Kilbreedy at 6pm.

East Minor Championship:
Oola played Kilpeacon in the East Minor Semi Final on Wednesday 31st of July. Kilpeacon were comfortable winners on a score line of Oola 1-6 Kilpeacon 6-7. The minors will now compete in the Minor B final date to be confirmed.
Nursery Program:
The Oola GAA nursery group held a very successful Ice cream party with all monies raised going to Down syndrome Ireland in supporting their new focus this year in offering peer to peer support to new families and offering practical resources to young kids with down syndrome starting out on their educational journeys. A huge thank you to everyone who gave so generously to the cause in raising a great amount €400. Also thank you to Katie and Sadhbh of "kids party hosting Tipperary" who gave up their spare time complimentary in painting the kids’ faces and also to Laura, Rachael and Rebecca for their Ice cream hosting. Well done to Treasa Ryan on organising this great event.

Gaelic for mothers and others:
Gaelic4Mothers&Others launches in Oola this Wednesday at 8pm.

The Gaelic4Mothers&Others initiative sees women playing Ladies Gaelic Football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment. Gaelic4Mothers&Others provides an opportunity for women to get their recommended weekly exercise in a fun way while meeting other mothers in the area.

No previous playing experience needed open to all ages, abilities and fitness levels.

Oola GAA Club Notes - 11th March 2019

Club membership is now due. You can give to Mixie Ryan the Club registrar. Remember only those whose membership is paid in full and on time can be included in the draw for All-Ireland tickets this summer.

The 2nd senior football game of the year was played on Saturday 9th of March away to Mountcollins in the County League. A hard fought game in tough playing conditions/adverse weather. Mountcollins were deserved winners on a scoreline of 1-6 to 0-5. The club would like to thank Mountcollins for providing our players with post match Tea and refreshments.Next outing in the County League is Wednesday March 20th away to St Patrick’s.

Oola Notes - 3rd March 2019

Registration for the Oola Bórd nOg will take place friday 29th march in oola community centre from 6-7 pm.

Membership is now due for all adult players, it is imperative that Everyone pays up before games commence, Mixie Ryan is the registrar

The 1st senior football game of the year was played on Saturday 2nd of March in Oola where Oola faced Galtee Gaels in the County League.
The score at half time was Oola 1-1 Galtee Gaels 0-8. The goal was scored by Bob Purcell with Jack Downey adding a point from a free. The second half saw a goal from Brendan Ryan and 2 points from Jack Downey. The game finished Oola 2-3 Galtee Gaels 0-13.
Making the their senior debut straight from minor grade was Ciaran Burke, CathalHallissey, Bob Purcell, Jason O’Brien.

The school have asked that we please reverse into parking spaces for safety reasons.

Oola played our neighbours Pallasgreen in the Junior A Football Championship on Sunday last in Cappamore.  Oola proved much too strong for Pallas from the very start. The half time score was Oola 3-5 Pallas 0-1.  Oola continued to dominate the game in the second half winning out on a scoreline of Oola 4-12 Pallas 2-5.

Oola ladies' footballers make the long trip to Athea on Saturday evening to play the first round of the intermediate football championship. Despite the recent rain, the pitch was in excellent condition allowing both team to contest a fast and open game. There was never much between but Athea held a slim lead entering the last five minutes. Quick thinking from Kathleen Bradshaw resulted in a goal from a free for Oola, and Ellie Bourke added a point from another free to give Oola a two point lead entering injury time. Despite some strong attacks from Athea, the Oola defence held out for a hard-earned win, on a score line of 2-10 to 1-11.

Oola Senior Footballers played their first competitive match of the year as they faced Mountcollins in the County League on Sunday last in Oola. The score at half time was Oola 1-6 Mountcollins 0-3, Oola went on to win the match on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-9.

Child Protection Workshop: 

Child Protection Workshop will take place in Oola Community Centre on Wednesday 21st March from 7 to 10pm.

Workshop is mandatory for anyone involved with an underage team or a Senior Team that has players under 18. Young people aged 16 to 18 can attend the Workshop with prior written consent from their parents. 

If you have attended this workshop previously, with any GAA club, you do not need to attend again.

Places are limited so please contact Mary Purcell, Child Welfare Officer on 087 2435970 to book a place.

Race Night:

Oola GAA Race night will take place in Hogan’s Bar Oola this Sunday 18th March. This is always an enjoyable night all support is greatly appreciated.

Club Limerick Draw:

Peter Gardiner, Alan O ’Mahoney and Sinead Burns will be collecting money for CLUB Limerick draw 2018.  The first draw will take place the end of March. It provides a valuable source of finance to all clubs. New member are welcome
